![]() ![]() Zombies are physically weak so a good overhead almost always throws them on the ground. This means overhead them to your heart's content. In the dungeon mode, zombies cannot block (minus the proctor and skeletons). I've beaten the expert boss several times by getting lucky knockdowns and just slamming him while he's down with overheads. He's really aggressive and doesn't wait for you to get up, and neither should you. You've probably had enemies do this to you before like the mace and buckler guy. Stand over them as they try to get up, do your overhead, keep them on the ground by throwing your body weight on them, and repeat as long as you can. Other than that, if you knock over an enemy, you can keep pounding on them with overheads and they can't do a thing about it. It can kill enemies in one hit if their head is unprotected. With a really brutal weapon like the two handed axe, this is where you want to do a crouch overhead. If you've got a long weapon like a sword, this is where you step back to get out of range, with a shorter weapon, you'd stand still or walk forward a bit. Reactive overeads are too risky and you often don't land good hits anyway. Remember, this is more anticipatory than reactive. Overheads work well if you anticipate the enemy is going to step forward to attack, since they'll be open and locked in their forward motion until the end of their swing. Their effectiveness varies per weapon as well. Overheads are a situational attack and you shouldn't feel bad if you're not using them often. Thanks guys and gals for positive feedback So my question is, when do you guys use an overhead swing in a fight? how do you maintain power and accuracy? how do you avoid overhead swings of death from your opponents? My opponents on the other hand, are freaking surgeons when it comes to this move, and always (when I say always I mean most of the time) land a devastating blow on my cranium that typically gets me super super dead as f**k. Okay so I rarely use this move because it seems like there is a delay before the swing (delay after the double click) then the wind up takes too long for my guy, and sometimes there is no power in the swing even when stepping into it, and the mother of all is the fact that I cant even hit a knocked down opponent anywhere on his or her person with said overhead swing. But I believe sometimes the need arises to just raise your weapon with awesome might and relentless rage, and just smite your foe in the face. because it opens up your defenses before you even swing. detrimental to your whole "being alive" thing that you like to do. Now I understand that a dramatic move like this in a real sword fight would be. the almighty technique used in mortal combat: the overhead swing of doom which delivers them to the quiet dark, the eternal slumber, the silent void, to the place where the light just don't shine. ![]() So much so that you can crouch to bait the AI into an overhead swing, then you just dodge and follow up With a big side swing that they can't block.Ah yes. This is how it should be, but the other problems prevent this from being worth it. Side swings have this too, but you can correct it by rotating your whole body with the swings.įinally, they leave you very vulnerable. The thrusts are pathetic, I get that you have to dart forwards to do them right, but anyone can dodge it. You can crouch to help with this, but the way you crouch means you can only really add momentum after your swing is hallway done, which is too late if your target is standing. If you look at real overhead swings, you have to put your back into it, but the character doesn't do this in Game. This is worst for the overhead swing, the swing is only in the arms, and your character starts to pull back too soon so the weapon doesn't hit the ground. Second, the attacks don't have enough follow-through. I’m sure I could get better if I practiced them more, but it never seems worth it when side swings are so much safer. But they both seem to fail in the technicalities.įirst of all, aiming is so much harder. I get that overhead swings are supposed to get maximum damage by transferring all momentum straight to the skull, and thrusts are supposed to get past slash armor. I’m not sure about the actual damage numbers, but overhead swings and thrusts feel like they have such low momentum, even when you crouch or dart forewords respectively.
